I’m a fourth year Ph.D. student working with Professor Frances Ross. I completed my undergraduate degree at KAIST in South Korea. I now study in situ TEM for studying nanoscale kinetics and chemistry in liquid phase. In addition to my involvement with WXOMS, I served as a vice president of KGSA(Korean Graduate Student Association) in AY 2021-2022. Also I am a Welcoming/Wellness chair RA at the Warehouse, which is one of the graduate housings.

I am a fourth year Ph.D. student in Professor Yet-Ming Chiang's group working on pressure-electrochemistry. After graduating from UC Berkeley with my bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, I worked for several years at Quantumscape, an R&D battery startup, before moving to the east coast. I am excited to build a community for womxn in the DMSE graduate community!

I am a 3rd year PhD student working with Professor Frances Ross. I'm originally from Dublin, Ireland where I was involved in WITS (Women in Technology and Science). I am passionate about making sure that everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunity in STEM. I really enjoys being on the WOMs team, to be able to build community of gender minorities in DMSE, build a platform to share our stories, and help to combat conscious and unconscious bias together. I can often be found drinking tea in the the DMSE commons, and I am always open for a tea and chat

I'm a third year PhD student, co-advised between Professor Bilge Yildiz and Professor Jennifer Rupp. I completed my undergraduate degree in physics at Ohio University before completing a Fulbright Fellowship at University Konstanz in Germany on photovoltaics. I now study ion conduction mechanisms in polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes for solid-state batteries. In addition to my involvement with WOMS, I am also the Well-being Chair for the Graduate Materials Council.

Eveline (Evi) Postelnicu

I'm Eveline (Evi) Postelnicu, a fourth-year PhD student in Professor Kimerling's group, researching defect properties of germanium. I was born in Romania, but grew up in Tempe, Arizona, so moving to Cambridge to pursue my Bachelor's and PhD at MIT was quite a thermal shock. Besides research, I am also involved in Programs for Women as a Graduate Community Fellow, and the Graduate Materials Council. I am looking forward to another great year of WXOMS!

For me, being part of WOMS is a great way of community building and making sure all the women in DMSE have a chance to get to know and learn from each other.

I'm a 4th year studying magneto-ionics in the Beach Group. I joined WXOMS as the Advocacy Chair because I have enjoyed attending the group's events in the past, and I wanted to get to know more students in the department, give back to the community, and spread the word about the issues facing gender minorities in STEM and what we can do to make the community a little better. Outside of DMSE, I enjoy social dancing and playing volleyball.

I am part of WOMS because I believe that space where women and gender minorities can feel safe and take a break from their oppressions is necessary.

I'm a metallurgist working on designing high entropy alloys in the Tasan Group. As a 2nd year PhD student, I find the community of womxn in DMSE to be crucial to supporting each other while sustaining a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse student body. I am excited to be on the board this year and help plan events to build our community!
